Max Plunge

The enormous pop can that has become a wintertime fixture on Elbow Lake along Highway 83 in Max will again be ready to take a dive! The Max Plunge is Max's yearly guessing game that predicts when the specially-made jumbo can will fall through the ice. They pay out to the top 4 guesses.

Having taken a hiatus in 2014, the Max Plunge is once more being sponsored by the Max Parks Department. Proceeds from the Plunge will go toward the upkeep of Max parks and related facilities and to benefit Parks Department recreation programs.

You may have seen that the Plunge can has gotten a face lift! At left you can see the can as it is now, outfitted in Max blue and white. Sponsors Bremer Bank and RTC are still prominent on the can.

How do we know when the can falls?

The Plunge can is outfitted with an electronic timer that stops immediately when it gets wet. Therefore, it doesn't matter if the can falls in the middle of the day or in the dead of night--the time will be exact.
